Othello Quote log (3.3. 343-546)

"I do not like the office./ But, sith I am entered in this cause so far, /Pricked to ’t by foolish honesty and love, I will go on. I lay with Cassio lately/And, being troubled with a raging tooth,/ I could not sleep. There are a kind of men/ So loose of soul that in their sleeps will mutter...and then (Cried) "Cursed fate that gave thee to the Moor!" (3.3.466-482)

Iago puts himself in an uncomfortable position.  He knows that if Othello finds out he is making the whole thing up, betraying him, he will be destroyed.  It is too late for him to turn back so he continues to come up with a false story about Cassio sleep talking about Desdemona proving that the two of them are having a secret relationship.  He continues to say after that its just a dream and that it could not be true. While Iago tells Othello all of the lies, he uses a tricky method of making it seem like Cassio is a great guy and he could never do such a thing.  Iago continues to play with Othello’s head in order for him to get back at Cassio and Othello for choosing Cassio over Iago as lieutenant.
